Moscow Submits Request to Israeli Authorities: Zakharova Comments

Moscow has submitted a request to Tel Aviv regarding the attack on a vehicle of the Russian diplomatic mission. The Russian embassy in Tel Aviv has addressed the Israeli authorities concerning the assault on the vehicle belonging to the Russian mission near the Palestinian National Autonomy, which occurred with the tolerance of Israeli soldiers, as stated today by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova.

“The Russian embassy in Tel Aviv has submitted a request to the Israeli authorities. We hope that the Israeli side will draw the appropriate conclusions,” said Zakharova in response to media inquiries.

She reminded that on July 30, a service vehicle with diplomatic plates used by employees of the Russian diplomatic mission accredited at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs was attacked in the Israeli settlement of Givat Asaf. Zakharova noted that “the attack itself was accompanied by verbal threats against Russian diplomats.”

“It is particularly surprising and unacceptable that the incident occurred with the tolerance of Israeli military personnel present at the scene, who did not even attempt to prevent the aggressive actions of the assailants,” emphasized the official representative.

“We consider this incident a gross violation of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which, among other things, requires the host state to ensure the inviolability of the property of foreign missions and to treat foreign diplomats with due respect, taking all necessary measures to prevent any infringement on their person, freedom, and dignity,” said Zakharova.
