Courts Reject Requests to Lift Agvān Arshakyan's Detention
Today, both the Court of Appeals and the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan have rejected requests to lift the detention of Agvān Arshakyan, a supporter of the "Sacred Struggle" movement. This information was reported by his lawyer Varazdat Harutyunyan.
He noted that he has not yet received the court rulings, and thus he will address their content at a later time. He recalled that a similar request was previously rejected by supervising prosecutor Hayk Hovhannisyan, citing the absence of a forensic expert's conclusion.
The lawyer emphasized that this referred to the forensic examination that, according to the court's ruling, should have been ordered immediately, but has not yet been scheduled, and the supervising prosecutor has done nothing in this regard.
It is worth noting that Agvān Arshakyan's condition has sharply deteriorated in prison. He has been detained for two months in connection with the "Coup Case." The RA Investigative Committee has announced that participants and leaders of the movement had planned to carry out terrorist actions and seize power in Armenia.
