Moscow Sends Protest to Germany

Moscow has formally lodged a decisive protest with the German Embassy in Japan regarding statements made by German Ambassador Petra Sigmund, which undermine Russia's sovereignty over the South Kuril Islands. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Russian MFA emphasized that the South Kuril Islands were legally transferred to Russia as a result of World War II, and these outcomes are enshrined in post-war agreements with the Allied powers as well as in the UN Charter.

The German side has been informed that solidarity with Tokyo's legally insignificant territorial claims, stemming from a revisionist interpretation of the results of World War II, is particularly blasphemous this year, when advanced humanity marks the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany and its satellites in the Great Patriotic War, the defeat of militaristic Japan, and the end of World War II.
