Turkey Does Not Rule Out Possibility of Early Presidential Elections in 2027
Turkey does not rule out the possibility of holding early presidential elections in 2027. This announcement was made by Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu.
The leader of Turkey’s largest opposition party, the Republican People’s Party, Özgür Özel, previously called on the authorities to hold early elections this November. In response to these calls, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that elections would be held in 2028, and there is no other agenda.
Özel emphasized that the current head of state will not be able to run for president again in 2028, hence he proposes to go for early elections in November.
