Iran's Foreign Ministry Calls on the West: Terrorists Must Be Held Accountable
Western countries must bear international legal responsibility for supporting terrorist and extremist groups. This was stated by the official spokesperson of the Islamic Republic's Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baghaei, in response to a recent joint statement by the U.S. and several Western countries that accused Iran of allegedly intensifying diversions and diversionary actions within their territories.
“The United States, France, and other countries that signed the anti-Iran statement must be held accountable for violating international law and supporting terrorism, which manifests itself by aiding terrorists and extremists and providing them refuge in their territories,” said Baghaei.
The diplomat added that Western countries are attempting to distract the world's attention from their own crimes by making “baseless and absurd” accusations against Tehran.
It should be noted that earlier, the foreign ministries of Austria, Albania, Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Canada, the Netherlands, the United States, Finland, France, the Czech Republic, and Sweden issued a joint statement accusing Iranian intelligence services of allegedly causing an “increase in threats” in their territories and labeling such actions as violations of their sovereignty.
The document includes allegations of attempted murders, abductions, torture, and harassment by Iranian intelligence against individuals in Europe and North America, without providing specific examples of illegal actions conducted by the Islamic Republic's intelligence services.
