Investigation Concluded in Case of Planned Murder Against Aram Sargsyan
The investigation into the case of planned murder against Aram Sargsyan, initiated following a report from the National Security Service of Armenia, has been concluded by the Human Rights Violations Investigations Department of the RA Investigative Committee.
During the investigation, sufficient evidence was gathered indicating that S.S. had planned the murder of A.S. in July 2025. Specifically, S.S. deliberately acquired and kept an instrument of crime, a factory-manufactured 'F-1' type hand grenade with a 'UZRGVM' type detonator, at his residence to prepare for unlawfully depriving A.S. of life.
Subsequently, aiming to carry out the murder using the hand grenade, S.S. began to study A.S.'s office in Yerevan and its adjacent areas, as he could not determine A.S.'s residence. He visited the vicinity of the office multiple times for this purpose. However, as A.S. was not present in the office, S.S. could not commence the objective actions related to the intended crime due to unforeseen circumstances, and his further actions were prevented when the hand grenade was discovered during a search of S.S.'s residence, conducted in cooperation with NSC employees.
S.S. has been subjected to public criminal prosecution under part 1 of Article 155 (preparation for murder) and Article 335, part 1 (illegal circulation of firearms, their essential components, military munitions, and other substances, devices, and objects) of the Criminal Code. He has been detained as a preventive measure. The criminal case has been forwarded to the supervising prosecutor with an accusatory conclusion.
