New Laws in Russia: Moscow Tightens State Fees for Migrants

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law introducing several new fees for state services and increasing some existing fees, as reported by TASS.

The regulation is linked to the fact that state bodies need to compensate for their actual costs in providing services. At the same time, it is important to set current prices in light of accumulated inflation and changing economic conditions.

Some changes pertain to migrants. A state fee is introduced for registering a foreign citizen at their place of residence, and the amount of the fee for this registration is being increased.

It is noted that these measures are crucial for strengthening the control over foreigners' stay in Russia, as many are still illegally present in the country. On the other hand, this will allow state authorities to compensate for the actual costs related to the registration and issuance of permits.

The authorities expect that the extension of state fees will encourage migrants to be more responsible regarding their documentation and the validity periods of their permits.
