Human Rights Defender on Ruling Party Members Calling Clergy Terrorists
“I have had a public statement from the outset, speaking about the principle of presumption of innocence, and this can be concerning not only in this case but in any other case as well,” stated Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan during a conversation with journalists, addressing the ruling party members’ calling clergy members terrorists.
“First and foremost, I have directed the actions of law enforcement agencies regarding this issue, because their restraint and the language used are also very important. However, it is also crucial for other actors to take this circumstance into account,” emphasized Manasyan. She added that the results of ongoing monitoring show a decrease in such cases, but the problem has not been fully resolved yet. Manasyan expressed hope that there will be an opportunity to resolve it completely.
