Soldiers Rescue Starved Bear Cub
In early July, soldiers of the Ministry of Defense alerted the Inspection Body of Environmental Protection and Mining about a starved and helpless bear cub found in the Vayots Dzor-Ararat border area. On the same day, the staff of the Inspection Body transferred the exhausted four-month-old cub of the Caucasian brown bear, which is listed in the RA Red Book, to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of "Fauna-Zoo" LLC in Yerevan for necessary initial care and treatment.
After about three weeks of initial rehabilitation and recovery, the bear cub was moved to the animal shelter of the Urtsadzor Foundation for Conservation of Wildlife and Cultural Values, where a developed program will ensure special care for the animal in its natural environment, with the aim of eventually releasing the cub back into the wild.
