Search of Samvel Karapetyan's Apartment Conducted Illegally, Lawyer Says

The search of Samvel Karapetyan's apartment has been declared illegal by a court decision. This was stated by Liana Gasparyan, a member of Samvel Karapetyan's legal team.

On June 18, 2025, a first instance court judge, Artak Karapetyan (notably the same judge who ordered Samvel Karapetyan's detention), had issued a decision to grant permission for the search of Samvel Karapetyan's residence. However, a special review complaint submitted against this decision was upheld, resulting in the Armenian Court of Appeals acknowledging a violation of Samvel Karapetyan’s rights.

It is explicitly stated that there had initially been insufficient factual grounds to obtain permission for the search, rendering the search conducted at Samvel Karapetyan's apartment overtly illegal, according to the statement released by his lawyer.
