Details from Erdoğan and Tokayev's Discussion
During the official visit of Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Ankara, 18 intergovernmental and inter-agency documents were signed. As a result of negotiations, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signed a joint statement on the high-level strategic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkey.
The parties exchanged views on urgent global issues and expressed concern about the escalation of armed conflicts. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted Erdoğan's special role in resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
“Kazakhstan supports the necessity of maintaining the territorial integrity of all countries. Kazakhstan and Turkey will continue effective cooperation on the international stage. Kazakhstan's diplomacy will pay special attention to the further development of the Organization of Turkic States. In this regard, we will continue joint work with the Turkish side and will unite efforts to ensure global stability and security,” he said.
Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also stated that the negotiations were productive. “The prospects for cooperation in the extraction of mineral resources and rare metals were discussed, as well as the possibilities for exporting Kazakh oil to the global market through our country. Discussions also included the use and development of the Trans-Caspian transport route, a modern analogue of the historic Silk Road,” he announced.
