Russia Sends Protest Note to Norway

The temporary chargé d'affaires of Norway, R. Johansen, was summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where a protest note was delivered to him. This was reported by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The reason for this action is the illegal restrictions imposed on Russian fishing vessels "Norebo" and "Murmansk Seafood" from Norway in July. These vessels had been conducting fishing activities in Norway's exclusive economic zone in accordance with the 1976 intergovernmental agreement on mutual relations in the fishing sector between Russia and Norway.

Norway has been informed that these unfriendly measures grossly violate bilateral agreements in the fishing sector. They undermine the long-standing effective system of joint management and regulation of fish resources in the Barents and Norwegian seas.
