Men and Women Over 60 Will Serve in Ukraine's Military: Zelensky Signs New Law

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a law allowing individuals over the age of 60 to serve on a contractual basis. This was reported by obozrevatel.com.

Zelensky aims to engage experienced and motivated citizens to strengthen the country's defense capabilities amid large-scale warfare.

The document was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on July 16 (with 203 votes in favor) and comes into effect after official publication. Relevant information is available on the Verkhovna Rada's website.

The law grants individuals over 60 the right to voluntarily sign contracts for military service in Ukraine's armed forces during a state of martial law. Specifically, both men and women may enter into these contracts if deemed fit for service based on the conclusion of a military medical commission.
