European Commission Sends Warning to Kyiv
The European Commission has sent a warning to Kyiv regarding the possible complete cessation of financial support, reports Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, a member of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada and former Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, confirmed to the publication that a relevant signal has indeed been received from the EU.
According to her, the document states that "EU financial assistance will be suspended if the situation regarding anti-corruption bodies is not resolved." This pertains to the entire payment, rather than just a portion of it.
At the same time, the European Commission noted in its letter that it does not see "Russian influence" in the anti-corruption bodies and considers it a pretext for pressure.
