Azerbaijan to Supply Gas to Syria via Turkey

Beginning August 1 of this year, Azerbaijan will start supplying natural gas to Syria through the Kilis pipeline that passes through Turkish territory.

The new energy pipeline, considered an important step in Syria's reconstruction, is scheduled to be put into operation on August 1. Natural gas from Azerbaijan will be delivered to Syria via the Kilis pipeline through Turkey. This project aims to aid the recovery of Syria's damaged electric infrastructure and strengthen Turkey's goal of becoming a regional energy hub, according to Turkish media reports.

In the first phase, it is planned to send 1.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Syria annually. The gas will pass through the city of Kilis, located at the Turkish border, and will reach power plants in Aleppo and Homs, where it will be used for electricity generation. As a result, an estimated production capacity of about 1200-1300 megawatts is expected.
