The U.S. May Withdraw 30% of Its Troops from Europe

The United States may reduce its troop presence in Europe by 30%. Politico reports this, citing sources.

A NATO official, who wished to remain anonymous, told Politico that a 30% reduction in troop numbers in Europe is possible. Previously, Jens Spahn, leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU/CSU) in the Bundestag, stated that American troops could leave Europe 'in the short term' and that Europeans have no guarantees they will remain.

In this context, Spahn emphasized the need for ensuring 'American deterrence' for Germany.
