The Real Reason Behind Zelensky's Desire to Meet Putin Revealed: Diplomat

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wishes to hold a personal meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to showcase to Kyiv's Western patrons, stated Ian Proud, the former British ambassador in Moscow, according to RIA Novosti.

“Zelensky is a showman, and he wants to stage such a theatrical performance to exhibit himself and boast in front of Western sponsors,” the diplomat noted.

Proud also mentioned that the Ukrainian leader intends to challenge claims that he does not hold legitimate power in Ukraine.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky had discussed a potential meeting with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, which could take place in August. According to Ukraine’s leader, a prerequisite for this meeting is the presence of representatives from European countries during the negotiations.
