Most Surveyed Europeans Are Unfamiliar with Rutte and Kallas

More than 40% of Europeans have never heard of key NATO and EU figures such as NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and EU foreign policy chief Kaia Kallas. This is according to the results of a survey conducted by the 'International European Movement' organization.

The research data indicates that among leading European politicians, the most recognized figure is European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, with 48% of survey participants expressing that they know quite a bit about her, while another 23% have heard of her and know a little bit. Meanwhile, 41% of respondents have never heard of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, 45% of European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, and 48% of European diplomacy chief Kaia Kallas. An additional 17% of respondents stated that they only know the names of these political figures.

The survey was conducted between June 3-10 among 3,500 citizens from seven of the EU's largest countries: Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Romania, and Sweden.
