Iran Prevents Assassination Attempts on 23 Senior Officials

Iranian intelligence services have thwarted assassination attempts on 23 senior officials. This was announced in a statement from the Islamic Republic's Ministry of Intelligence following the Iran-Israel conflict.

"We succeeded in uncovering and neutralizing terrorist plots devised by Israel targeting assassination attempts against 23 senior officials during the 12-day war, as well as 13 similar conspiracies planned prior to the conflict, the disclosure of which led to the prevention of the killing of 35 senior civil and military officials," the document states.

Iranian intelligence officials have prevented the entry of at least 450 foreign militants into Iran during the escalation of the conflict with Israel. "We managed to identify the location of 300 foreign terrorists stationed near the southeast border of the country, who were preparing to infiltrate Iranian territory," the agency noted.

The intelligence agency's statement mentioned that Israel's Mossad, in collaboration with Iranian dissidents, had planned to organize mass riots in Tehran following the Israeli strike on Evin prison.

Additionally, on the night of June 13, Israel launched military operations against Iran. A day later, the Islamic Republic began a retaliatory attack. The United States entered the conflict nine days after its escalation, striking Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. On the evening of June 23, Iran attacked Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American airbase in the Middle East, located in Qatar.

Afterwards, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Iran had agreed on a ceasefire, which came into effect on June 24.
