Death Toll from Wildfires in Turkey Rises
The death toll from forest fires in Turkey has increased since the end of June. Following the deaths of two volunteer firefighters near the city of Bursa in northwestern Turkey, the number of victims had risen to four.
Currently, the death toll has reached 17, including 10 volunteer rescuers and loggers who lost their lives during a fire that broke out in the city of Eskişehir in western Turkey. Over the weekend, major fires erupted around Bursa, Turkey's fourth-largest city, prompting the evacuation of more than 3,500 people.
