HETC is Currently in a Technically Deteriorated Condition, Says Romanos Petrosyan
Romanos Petrosyan, the interim manager of the "Armenian Electric Networks" OJSC, stated that the electric power system is currently in a technically deteriorated condition and facing physical wear, with some aspects deemed unfit for further use.
“Many of the equipment in the company’s electric power system has exhausted its entire resource and service life. The organization lacks modern automated telecommunication facilities necessary for operational management and for receiving information regarding accidents,” Petrosyan noted. “It is evident that this situation is a consequence of years of mismanagement policies and the nearly complete absence of initiatives directed towards network modernization. The results are now palpable, manifested in the frequent emergency outages and the protracted response times and inclusiveness required for resolution efforts,” he added.
He clarified that under the mentioned conditions, if accidents and power supply disruptions are not caused by human errors (such as equipment and cable damage, arson of pole and substation), the operational technical staff of HETC can respond as quickly as possible due to the round-the-clock duty regime, allowing for prompt restoration of power supply.
“In all other cases of urgent restoration work, a more extended time could objectively be required, for which we ask for your understanding and forgiveness,” concluded the interim manager of HETC.
