Poland's Foreign Ministry Excludes Ukraine's EU Membership

Poland's Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has stated that Ukraine will not be able to apply for EU membership if it remains corrupt, following the passage of a law limiting the powers of anti-corruption agencies in the country, as reported by RIA Novosti.

"At this moment, it is excluded," said the Polish Foreign Ministry.

It is noteworthy that the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada has approved a bill that abolishes the independence of two anti-corruption agencies—the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO). This document was subsequently signed by Volodymyr Zelensky.

Several Ukrainian parliamentarians assessed the bill as dismantling the country's anti-corruption institutions. Media reports indicate that protests have begun in Kyiv, Lviv, Dnipro, Odesa, and other cities.
