Aren Mkrtchyan Responds to Levon Ter-Petrosyan: 'Could it be that you lacked support because you were not legitimate?'
Aren Mkrtchyan from the ruling Civil Contract party has responded to the first president of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
“Levon Ter-Petrosyan, your supporters organized a powerful rally on March 1, 2008. A rally where you left your supporters to the hail of gunfire and went home to your house arrest. You could have legally refused house arrest with your signature. Your supporters claimed, 'What about the president's security?' I say, 'What about the ten guys freezing on the asphalt in the center of Yerevan?' You have said that 'the worst government is one that does not make decisions.' So why did you resign on February 3, 1998, saying, 'The party for peace and dignified reconciliation in Armenia has suffered defeat'? Why didn’t you make a decision instead of resigning, deciding to leave peace and dignified reconciliation to my generation, rather than passing on the inheritance of war?
Could it be that a powerful rally of your supporters was necessary for you to do that? Or could it be that you lacked such support because you were not legitimate, since the 1996 presidential election was forged, laying the foundation of the country on a crooked base?
Levon, Nikol Pashinyan led the fight for the lives of me and many others to victory in 2018, weighing his own life and his family's on the balance instead of fleeing home. Nikol Pashinyan resigned and was re-elected after the defeated war you left as a legacy with your two gifts from Artsakh, even in that situation without falsifying the elections.”
Earlier, it was reported that the first president of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, published an article regarding the organization of a fake rally through Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his supporters in the Vagharchapat square.
