Transferring Control of Roads in Syunik Will Lead to Armenia's Blockade, Says Ishkhan Saghatelyan
The program for transferring control of the roads in Syunik is a process against the interests of the Armenian people, including those of friendly countries, particularly Iran. This was stated by Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a representative of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) in an interview with journalists.
“Will this lead to the opening of communications and the establishment of peace in the region? Definitely not, because the entry of extraterritorial forces into our region will create instability and new problems. For four years, they have denied having an agreement regarding a 'corridor,' but the fact is that he has long given that 'corridor'; the issue is who will control the 'corridor.' It turns out that it could be the American side, and the presence of American forces on the border with Iran carries very dire consequences. We must do everything we can to prevent this,” said Saghatelyan.
Saghatelyan noted that transferring the control of roads in the sovereign territory of Armenia to a third country would lead to Armenia's blockade, and its connection with Iran would become problematic. “The foolishness has reached the point where they are saying that we also call it a 'corridor' on the North-South road,” concluded the MP.
