Prime Minister's Spokesperson on Aliyev's Demand to Amend the Constitution
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia has also stated that Armenia and Azerbaijan are very close to signing a Peace Agreement. Regarding the resolution of the Minsk Group's mechanisms and the possible preliminary signing of the Peace Agreement, this is an understandable agenda for the Republic of Armenia, and active discussions are currently underway on the conditions under which this could happen. This was reported by the Prime Minister's spokesperson Nazeli Baghdasaryan during an interview with Armenpress.
“As for the issue related to the Constitution, the Prime Minister has repeatedly stated that if the Constitutional Court of Armenia recognizes the Peace Agreement as inconsistent with the Constitution after its signing, the Prime Minister himself will initiate constitutional amendments in Armenia. Until then, there is no reason for this, as the RA Constitutional Court has determined in its decision of September 2024 that there are no territorial claims against any country in our Constitution. Prime Minister Pashinyan has addressed these topics thoroughly during his speeches at the discussions of the Report on the Implementation Progress and Results of the Government Program of the Republic of Armenia for 2021-2026 and at the 'Yerevan Dialogue' conference,” said the spokesperson.
