Hajiyev on the Pashinyan-Aliev Meeting

The dialogue without intermediaries allowed Baku and Yerevan to achieve real progress. This was stated by Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan.

Hajiyev noted that the meeting between Aliyev and Pashinyan in Abu Dhabi was constructive and without the participation of intermediaries. 'We believe that this format has allowed the sides to achieve real progress. In particular, positive movements have been recorded in the agreement on the text of the peace treaty, as well as in the border delimitation process. Overall, there is positive dynamics towards strengthening regional stability,' Hajiyev said.

According to him, the possibility of the preliminary signing of the agreement was also discussed. However, this is hindered by contradictory points in the Constitution of Armenia and the unresolved issue of the final dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group. 'Until these steps are implemented, the topic of the preliminary signing of the document remains a subject for further discussions,' Hajiyev noted.

Recall that on July 9, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made a working visit to Abu Dhabi for a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
