Who Are the Accomplices of the Organizer of Khorkhoruni's Murder?
Today, the Investigative Committee announced that the high-profile crime of the murder of former Deputy Minister of Defense Vahram Khorkhoruni, committed 27 years ago, has been solved. The Investigative Committee reports that it has determined: “S.A., H.N., and A.A. carried out the murder of former Deputy Minister of Defense Vahram Khorkhoruni on December 10, 1998, for selfish motives and organized by S.A. in cooperation with others, as well as illegally acquired and possessed firearms.” This is reported by the newspaper “Hayastani Hanrapetutyun.”
At first glance, it may seem that a new investigation has been conducted and new information has emerged in a case that has long been the focus of public attention. In reality, however, no new information has been revealed. S.A., who, according to the Investigative Committee, “as a serviceman, aimed to organize the murder of former Deputy Minister of Defense Vahram Khorkhoruni for selfish motives,” is reportedly Sasun Arushanyan, who was the head of Samvel Babayan’s security detail. H.N. is Hrant Narimanyan, who has already been convicted for the murder of Armen Arakelyan and on whom attempts were made to blame Khorkhoruni’s murder, while A.A. is Armen Arakelyan, Narimanyan’s acquaintance and director of the “Uyut” cooperative, who was later murdered. Narimanyan has already been sentenced for the murder of Armen Arakelyan.
Thus, the Investigative Committee has merely legitimized the results of the old investigation that was carried out during the tenure of former Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan, which has raised suspicions over the years as many questions could not be answered during the investigation.
