UK Discusses Potential Participation in Trump's Initiative with US and European Partners
The United Kingdom is in discussions with the United States and European partners regarding the possibility of joining a proposal by U.S. President Donald Trump, which involves purchasing American weapons for subsequent transfer to Ukraine. This was reported by Bloomberg, citing a source familiar with the negotiations.
According to the agency, the consultations are in early stages, and no final decision has been made in London. However, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has 'signaled' that the country may follow Germany’s example, which has already expressed willingness to participate in this scheme.
During a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, he stated, 'We are working with allies to provide Ukraine with the necessary means and to ensure their effective application.' Thus, Starmer responded to a question about London’s potential involvement in supplying Patriot air defense systems to Kyiv within the framework of Trump’s plan.
