The One Who Digs a Pit for Others Will Fall Into It Themselves: Peskov on New Sanctions Against Russia

Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that the EU sanctions have a counterproductive effect and are harmful to the very countries that impose them.

“Each new package has a negative effect on those countries that join it,” he said in response to journalists' questions concerning the 18th package of EU sanctions against Russia.

Peskov noted that over the past three years, Russia has adapted to the conditions imposed by sanctions, although it considers them illegal. “We are against the restrictions. But we already have a certain immunity to them, and we have adapted to the conditions of sanctions,” he indicated.

The Kremlin representative added that it is necessary to analyze the new package of EU sanctions against Russia to minimize its consequences.

It is worth noting that the European Union has today agreed on a new, 18th package of sanctions against Russia after lengthy discussions.
