EU Approves One of the Strongest Sanction Packages Against Russia

The EU has just approved one of the strongest sanction packages against Russia. We are further reducing the Kremlin's war budget by targeting shadow navy vessels and their supporters, and limiting Russian banks' access to financing,” wrote EU's chief diplomat, Kaia Kallas, on the X platform regarding the package's adoption.

According to Kallas, restrictions will be placed on the Nord Stream pipelines, and a lower maximum price threshold for oil will be set. “We are applying greater pressure on Russia's military industry, on Chinese banks that facilitate evasion of sanctions, and blocking exports of technology used for drones,” Kallas added.

She also noted that for the first time, the Rosneft oil refinery in India will be subjected to sanctions. Kallas emphasized that the measures will continue, thus “ceasing aggression will become the only way for Moscow to move forward.”
