Complaints Filed Against Judges Karapetyan and Danielyan: Samvel Karapetyan's Lawyer

Samvel Karapetyan's lawyer Aram Vardevanyan wrote on his Facebook page: "Since June 18, Samvel Karapetyan has been detained. He was arrested following a public promise of settlement presented on June 17, the Attorney General's report, and the evidently unlawful decision of Judge Artak Karapetyan. The reason is simply our stance alongside the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, to protect it, and political persecution.

As a reminder, the party defending the rights was deprived of the effective right of appeal against the detention decision, which has minimal correlation with the law, through Judge Armen Danielyan. All this is being done also to ensure actions against today's HEC.

Together with my colleagues, we have also filed cassation appeals. At the same time, I want to emphasize that disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against judges Karapetyan and Danielyan. The aforementioned judges, through their judicial acts, have evidently led to fundamental violations of human rights and the discrediting of the judicial authority."
