California Sues Trump Administration

California's high-speed rail authority has filed a lawsuit against President Donald Trump's administration for refusing to fund the California High-Speed Rail (HSR) project between San Francisco and Los Angeles. The case involves a $4 billion allocation from the federal budget. This was reported by Reuters.

The lawsuit, challenging the cancellation as an arbitrary and capricious abuse of power, has been filed in the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles by the agency overseeing the project. According to California Governor Gavin Newsom, the decision by the U.S. Department of Transportation came at a time when preparations for the construction of the first segment of the highway between Bakersfield and Merced were in full swing.
