What is Ukraine, where is it located: Decide before it becomes an EU member - Orbán
The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, has called for a determination of what Ukraine is before it becomes a member of the European Union. The politician made this statement on his X social media account.
“First, we urgently need a ceasefire and peace. Then we need to determine what Ukraine is—what its borders are, who its population is. At this moment, we don’t even know what Ukraine is and where it is located. After the establishment of peace, Europe must conclude long-term agreements with Russia and also lay the foundations for strategic partnerships with Ukraine. This will allow us to protect sovereignty and secure Europe’s future,” Orbán stated.
The Prime Minister of Hungary has repeatedly opposed Ukraine's accession to the European Union. In his view, admitting Ukraine to the union would mean importing military operations. He emphasized that Kyiv may choose “war,” but cannot demand others to join that choice.
