Students in Armenia to Receive Nominal Scholarships in Schools

The government approved the "Regulations on Funding for Providing Nominal Scholarships to Students of General Education Institutions and Military-Patriotic State Educational Institutions" during its meeting on July 17.

This decision proposes to establish the requirements for providing nominal scholarships to diploma holders of subject Olympiads in general education institutions, as well as international subject Olympiads, based on a decree by the Armenian government. According to the regulations, nominal scholarships will be awarded based on the order of the RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport to students of educational institutions implementing general educational programs who are diploma holders of the Republican rounds of subject Olympiads or winners or participants in the final stages of international subject Olympiads.

Nominal scholarships will be granted for 12 months at amounts ranging from 5,000 to 25,000 AMD per month. The project also stipulates that if a student qualifies for the scholarship on two or three grounds, they can receive a total amount equal to the sum of those scholarships. Nominal scholarships are awarded to students through institutions based on a one-year (12-month) calculation.

Moreover, regardless of the organizational-legal form of the institution, the scholarships will be transferred to students through non-cash methods. If a scholarship recipient's studies at that institution cease, the unpaid portion of the nominal scholarship intended for one year (12 months) will be paid to the student in a lump sum. The list of scholarship recipients is subject to publication on the websites of the institutions that provide the scholarships.

Additionally, the Armenian government's decree has established the requirements for providing nominal scholarships to students of military-patriotic state educational institutions, according to which a monthly scholarship of 10,000 to 45,000 AMD will be awarded to students based on their level of education and academic performance.
