The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has voted in favor of the resignation of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. Along with him, the entire cabinet has been automatically relieved of their duties.

This information was reported by the RBC-Ukraine publication. A total of 261 deputies voted in favor of the government's resignation, surpassing the necessary minimum of 226.

Denys Shmyhal had held the position of Prime Minister for the past five years, marking the longest tenure since Ukraine's independence. Recently, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy requested First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko to lead the government.

According to Ukrainian media, Shmyhal is set to take on the role of Minister of Defense, while the current head of the ministry, Rustem Umerov, will become Ukraine's ambassador to the United States.
