Some Russian TV Channels Have Crossed 'Red Lines': We Are Not Seeking a Conflict - Pashinyan

Despite the fact that some Russian TV channels have crossed 'red lines', the official Yerevan would not wish to be forced to suspend the broadcasting of Russian channels in Armenia's public multiplex. This was stated today by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at a press conference when responding to questions about the future of Russian TV channels, amid regular announcements from Armenian authorities regarding potential closures.

Pashinyan emphasized that Armenia wants to maintain normal, regular, friendly relations based on mutual respect with Russia. “I would not want us to be compelled to make such a decision, because we are not seeking confrontation or any conflict situation with the Russian Federation. I have a very respectful and open, transparent, honest, and sincere relationship with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. Aside from the factor, I would personally feel uncomfortable if Armenia were forced to make such a decision,” Pashinyan highlighted.

He also noted that there are forces in Russia that seek to compel Yerevan to make such decisions. “If we are pressured too much, what can we do, we will have to proceed as they wish,” he concluded.
