China to Support Iran in Defending Sovereignty and Combating Terrorism
The Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, has announced that China will continue to support Iran in protecting its national sovereignty and dignity, countering power politics and terrorism, defending its legitimate rights and interests through political negotiations, and further improving and developing relations with its neighbors based on the principles of friendship and cooperation.
Wang made this statement during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who is in China to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Foreign Ministers' Council meeting.
Wang stated that China, as a comprehensive strategic partner, is ready to cooperate with Iran to deepen mutual trust, strengthen collaboration, expand exchanges, and promote stable and long-term development of China-Iran relations.
China highly values Iran's commitment to forgoing nuclear weapons, respects Iran's right to peaceful use of nuclear energy, and emphasizes the importance of Iran's pursuit of peace through diplomatic means.
