Armenia Wants to Become an EU Member, Says Nikol Pashinyan
During a press conference today, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was asked whether it means that Armenia wishes to become an EU member. He responded, "Yes, and our European partners and we have noted that the process of any country becoming an EU member is not simple; all EU member states must agree to it, and equally, if not more importantly, the country must comply with EU standards. I was asked for a comment on how I envision the solution to the issue. I said that in any case, we have an ambitious reform program and strategy that we will implement one way or another."
At this point, there are two options: either Armenia is accepted as an EU member or not. If accepted, that’s great; if not for some reasons, Armenia will already be a country compliant with European modern standards. In both cases, we have no reason to stop this strategy.
