France 24 Denies Claims of France Transporting Nuclear Waste to Armenia
The French television channel France 24 has addressed recent fake news claiming that France has allegedly covertly transported nuclear waste to Armenia.
In a report prepared by the channel, correspondent Katarina Magshon de Abghon emphasized that this is false information that has quickly gone viral on social media. “Like similar cases, this one also displays all the signs of a coordinated disinformation campaign using methods typical of Russian propaganda, such as the creation of fake websites and the use of well-known organizations’ names to lend credibility to the lie.”
The falsehood has been widely circulated in Azerbaijani media, including television and news agencies. The conclusion is that this is a systematic disinformation campaign aimed at both Paris and Armenia,” concluded the France 24 correspondent.
It is reminded that the report was published on June 25, and it started spreading on the same day. It has been viewed over 2.1 million times on the X platform alone. The publication claimed that the French company Orano, which operates in the nuclear sector, needed a new storage site for nuclear waste, and allegedly that storage was located in Armenia. Furthermore, it was mentioned that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan supposedly received a suspicious “donation” of 1.6 million euros from France in exchange for handing over territory in a national park.
