2.5 Billion Euro Support from the EU: Details from Pashinyan's Brussels Meeting
The meeting between European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Antonio Costa, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has concluded. Special attention was drawn to Yerevan's efforts to regulate its relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey, as reported by the press service of the European Commission.
Ursula von der Leyen described the potential signing of peace as a turning point that would end decades of enmity. The EU has also reaffirmed its support for the Armenian initiative "Peace Crossroads,” aimed at restoring regional connectivity and reconciliation.
It was confirmed that a political agreement on the new EU-Armenia partnership agenda, progress in the visa liberalization process, Armenia's efforts to combat sanctions evasion, and the commencement of consultations on security and defense between the EU and Armenia have all been established.
Von der Leyen also announced that the EU's support for Armenia under the "Global Gateway" strategy is being increased to 2.5 billion euros, focusing on transportation, energy, digital infrastructure, and small business sectors.
Later, Nikol Pashinyan reported on his Telegram channel that he had an effective and expanded discussion with European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
