I Solved NATO's Problem: Donald Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump has positively assessed the targeted increase of NATO's defense spending to 5% of gross domestic product (GDP). He made the corresponding statement on July 12.

“You saw, I solved NATO's problem last week. And now every country is paying significantly more, for example, from 2% to 5%,” he said.

According to him, as a result, the military alliance has started receiving more than $1 trillion.

Trump stated that the United States is also “doing well” in the trade sector. The American leader expressed confidence that everything will proceed “very effectively”.

The NATO summit took place in The Hague on June 24-25. Following the meeting, countries agreed to raise defense spending to 5% of GDP.

It should be noted that on June 26, the leaders of EU member states affirmed the goal of being able to independently address defense and security issues over the next five years by adopting a relevant document. They also emphasized the importance of joint projects aimed at increasing the defense capabilities of EU countries.
