The US Reduces Troop Numbers in Syria
Ofelya
The United States has decided to reduce its troop numbers in Syria as it fights against ISIS (a terrorist organization banned in Russia). They have no intention of remaining in the region indefinitely, stated the US ambassador in Turkey and the US special envoy for Syria, Thomas Barak. This was reported by Turkey's state-run Anadolu Agency.
“We have a military presence in this region and we are maintaining it. The purpose is not to keep this presence forever. As we fight against ISIS, we will make decisions over time to reduce the number of those troops. Just as all troop numbers should be reduced if a new independent Syrian government is established,” the diplomat said.
