Ministry of Internal Affairs Discusses Pressure on Artsakh Residents Ahead of Rally

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia has denied claims made by the Council for the Protection of Artsakh Residents' Rights regarding pressure exerted on them by the Armenian authorities in anticipation of a rally scheduled for July 12.

In an interview with Auroranews, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Narek Sargsyan, stated: "The claims regarding pressure are absolutely inconsistent with reality. The police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are discussing organizational matters with the organizers of this gathering, just like with any other event. During the authorized gathering, the police are obliged to maintain public order, which will be properly implemented," Sargsyan emphasized.

The rally, organized by the Council for the Protection of Artsakh Residents' Rights, is set to take place at 18:00 in Liberty Square, Yerevan. Earlier, the Council had issued a statement claiming that violence and pressure were being applied by the Armenian government against its members and supporters. The Council also mentioned that while the Yerevan city hall has authorized their rally, the planned march to the National Assembly and the Government offices, as well as a sit-in, have not been permitted.
