European Union Threatens US with Retaliatory Measures
The European Union is prepared to implement retaliatory measures against the United States if negotiations over trade relations fail. This was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The statement came after US President Donald Trump declared a 30 percent tariff on imports from the EU starting August 1.
“To protect the interests of the EU, we will take all necessary steps, including the proportional adoption of retaliatory measures if needed,” said the President of the European Commission. She emphasized that Brussels intends to continue negotiations regarding trade relations with the US until August 1.
