We Will Not Surrender. Merz Addresses Leaders of Russia, America, and Slovakia
The Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, delivered a speech at a conference in Rome dedicated to the reconstruction of Ukraine, addressing the leaders of the Russian Federation, the United States, and Slovakia. The first message from the German politician was directed towards Moscow and its President, Vladimir Putin. It was brief: “We will not surrender,” said Merz.
Merz's second address was aimed at U.S. President Donald Trump. He urged the American leader to stand by the Europeans. “We share the same interests; we strive for a stable political order in this world,” concluded Merz.
Moreover, he called on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to cease resistance and “open the way for the 18th package of sanctions” within the European Union.
