Details from the Investigative Committee on the Drug-Related Incident at the Mkhchyan School

In the Mkhchyan village of Ararat province, no traces of drugs were found in the bodies of two fourth-grade students at Christapor Alaverdyan School. This was reported to Auroranews by the spokesperson for the Investigative Committee (IC), Kima Avdalyan.

“Samples were taken from the children and sent for examination. According to the findings of the examination, no traces of drugs were detected in the children's bodies. The white powder-like substance that the children were forced to use was still not a drug,” said the IC spokesperson.

Administrative supervision has been applied to three individuals, while one adult, from whom marijuana was seized, is under house arrest,” added the spokesperson.

It is reminded that a criminal case was initiated regarding the incident at the school under Articles 258, Part 2, Items 2, 5, and 8 of the Criminal Code (extortion committed by a group of persons in a premeditated agreement against a helpless person, involving a minor). A public criminal prosecution has been initiated against four individuals under the same legal provisions.

It should be noted that a horrifying incident became known in mid-May. According to residents of Mkhchyan, “several boys from higher grades bound two fourth-grade students in the school restroom and forcibly gave them drugs. After that, the children exhibited signs of addiction and started stealing money from home to buy drugs again from the same students.”
