Artificial Peach Coloring Case Discovered
The National Food Agency of Georgia has responded to the dissemination of footage of artificially colored peaches on social media. A person named G.U., residing in the village of Chumlakghi in the Gurjaani municipality, has been identified as the individual responsible for this offense.
Inspectors from the National Food Agency's Kakheti regional office, in cooperation with representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, have taken peach samples as part of the investigation. The samples will undergo laboratory testing, and the results will be made available to the public.
To ensure the population has access to safe food, the agency routinely checks various products available in the market. This includes testing for the presence of pesticides, heavy metals, radionuclides, and nitrates.
