Head of Azerbaijani Community in Moscow Region Deported from Russia
The head of the regional national-cultural autonomy of Azerbaijanis in the Moscow region, Elshan Ibrahimov, is being deported from Russia. This information has been reported by gazeta.ru.
According to sources, Ibrahimov is scheduled to fly to Baku on the next flight from Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow. On July 4, he was arrested for violating rules of stay in the country and was stripped of his citizenship. It has been reported that he is expected to be deported from the country in the near future.
It is worth reminding that relations between Moscow and Baku have soured following the arrest of several ethnic Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg on June 27. On July 1, eight Russians were arrested and detained in Baku on suspicion of drug trafficking from Iran, online trade in prohibited substances, and cyber fraud.
