National Assembly Discusses Issue of Depriving MP of Liberty
The National Assembly is discussing a motion to grant permission for the deprivation of liberty of MP Arthur Sargsyan. According to the Prosecutor General, Sargsyan, by leveraging his position and the related authority, may exert illegal influence on individuals involved in the case, destroy or conceal evidence, flee, and affect individuals holding positions in state structures, thereby obstructing the investigation.
He stated that Sargsyan's active role in the prepared crime allows for the application of preventive measures against him regarding deprivation of liberty.
It is noteworthy that the parliament recently approved, through a closed and secret ballot, the Prosecutor General's motion to initiate criminal proceedings against him. Sargsyan is involved in the "Holy Struggle" case, where Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan and his associates have been arrested. They are accused of preparing for terrorism and seizing power.
