Better to Live in Noisy Democracy than in Authoritarian Backroom: Hayk Konjoryan

The leader of the National Assembly's "Civil Contract" faction, Hayk Konjoryan, made the following post on his Facebook page regarding the events in the National Assembly:

"Many are asking what is happening in the National Assembly. Let me clarify: Terrorists, who were forcibly ousted from power without violence, want to return to power through violence to carry out new abuses. If someone thinks that the terrorists’ bullets will only hit officials, they are mistaken. Those bullets were aimed at the government, but they would have hit many others, including perhaps those who today say, 'Enough already, we are tired of your fights.' You may ask how they would hit others. I’ll explain: they would first seize power, then surrender sovereignty. Then they would provoke wars and new casualties. And it is unknown where Armenian soldiers would be fighting and for whom. Then the previous plunder would return, but with new fervor and appetite. Those who had managed to stand up a bit would be brought to their knees, dispossessed, and turned into refugees. Those who hadn’t managed to rise would have their hopes for survival extinguished. That is what would have happened had the planned terrorism succeeded. However, it has not succeeded; it has been thwarted thanks to our law enforcement officials. Now, those criminals must be held accountable.

Excuse us if this process is a bit noisy. Understand us, we are not dealing with political figures, but with criminal terrorists. It is better for the state's affairs to be agitated than for bullets to fly. And in the end, it is better to live in noisy democracy than in authoritarian backroom."
